そんな気持ちで、中川運河ギャラリーでアートをつくり、リサーチも行い、ワークショップや遊びを提供しています。展覧会や町歩きツアー、レクチャーや刊行物で中川運河について話したり、学んだりします。
ここに住む人と遠方の方々、個人と地元企業、専門家とアマチュアを集め、みんなでふるさと・コミュニティを発展させます。

Loving the charms of the Nakagawa Unga Canal means wanting to discover more about it!
In this spirit, Nakagawa Unga Gallery creates art, conducts research and offers workshops and fun activities. We talk and learn about the Nakagawa Unga through our exhibitions, city walks, talks and publications.
By involving those who live here and people from further afield, individuals and local businesses, professionals and hobbyists, we are developing a 'hometown community' together.
Those who want to get involved with the Nakagawa Unga, or generally if you are interested in the topic of 'cityscape': We are looking for friends!
We are a small gallery along the old Nakagawa Unga in the heart of the manufacturing region of Nagoya. You can have a look or make something yourself. Stop by, get involved, contribute and help make things better!

Showa-era Nagoya
as seen through bookmarks
日本のアンティークしおりの中には地元名古屋に関わるしおりが数多くあります。
そこには今まで私たちが知らなかったり気づかなかったりした「昭和の名古屋」の姿がいきいきと描き出されています。しおりはまさに時代の写し鏡。
わが国初の博覧会ともいえる「名古屋汎太平洋博覧会」や、東京・大阪に先駆け日本で初めて電気吹込みレコードを発売したアサヒ蓄音機商会の「ツルコドモレコード」、幻に終わった「名古屋オリンピック」など、60枚のいにしえのしおりから浮かんでくる昭和の「名古屋」の姿をお楽しみください。
本展は、中川運河しおりのアトリエとの共同企画です。中川運河しおりのアトリエは、豊嶋利雄氏の数多くのブックマークコレクションを定期的に一般公開しています。

Among the antique bookmarks of Japan, there are many bookmarks related to the local area of Nagoya. They vividly depict a "Showa-era Nagoya" that we may not have known or noticed until now.
These bookmarks are a mirror of the times: the "Nagoya Pan-Pacific Exposition", which can be said to be Japan's first exposition, the "Tsurukodomo Records" by the Asahi Phonograph Company, which was the first company in Japan to sell electric phonograph records ahead of Tokyo and Osaka, or the "Nagoya Olympics", which ended in a mirage, are just some of the images from the past of Showa Nagoya that come to live. Please enjoy 60 bookmarks of bygone days.
This exhibition was created in co-operation with the Nakagawa Unga Bookmark Atelier which is located right in our neighbourhood and regularly presents pieces from Toshio Toyoshima's extensive bookmark collection to the public.
